How To Install & Configure WordPress Google XML Sitemap Plugin?

In this article, we describe to you, how to install the Google XML Sitemaps plugin for your WordPress.

XML sitemaps make it easier for search engines to index a web site's content.

There are many plugins available for WordPress. The most popular is Yoast SEO and "Google XML Sitemaps", the XML sitemap index it generates is also valid for all search engines like Yahoo, Bing, etc.

But today I'll show you the "Google XML Sitemaps" Plugin installation & Configuration.

Installing Google XML Sitemaps

To install the plugin, follow these steps:

Log in to your WordPress site as the administrator.
In the left-hand pane, click Plugins.
Click Add New.
In the Search text box, type "Google XML Sitemaps", and then click Search Plugins.
Now install the desire Plugin.
There are several plugins with similar names. Install the plugin which is shown in images.
After WordPress finishes installing the plugin, click Activate Plugin.

Configuring Google XML Sitemaps

After completing the installation of the plugin you have to configure it. So, to do this follow the below steps:

Log in to your WordPress site as the administrator.
In the left-hand pane, click Settings, and then click XML-Sitemap. WordPress displays the URL for the sitemap file near the top of the page.
Under Basic Options, select the search engines that you want to notify of blog updates.
Under Sitemap Content, select the types of WordPress content that you want to include in the sitemap index.
Review the remaining default settings, which are suitable for most web sites, and make any necessary changes.
There are many additional settings that you can use to more finely control how the sitemap is generated. For more information about all of these settings, please visit the Plugin Help Page.
Click Update options.
